A list of complaints
1. Job market stinks.

2. Job market stinks worse for a non-citizen or green-card holder.

3. I hate that I can no longer hide under the awning that was law school.

4. Studying for the Bar stinks.

5. Re-studying (even if only technically) for the Bar stinks worse.

6. No matter how interesting people make it sound, Con Law stinks.

7. Ditto for Sales.

8. Sometimes I hate eating healthy.

9. I hate seeing flab where only muscle and skin used to be.

10. It's annoying that the boys I'm into are not the ones calling me and the ones I don't care about are those who call incessantly.

But you are re-taking the Bar exam, and seriously studying for it this time, right? Passing it ought to take care of most of your more crushing problems?

Have emailed Mel with the info you requested. Some minor changes to the law since the last time you asked, but none relevant to you. However, I've added some stuff. Hope you find it useful!!

Thanks a ton for your mail, KC :) I found most of that info on NUS' law fac page, but I didn't know about the job opportunities that you mentioned. I'll look further into the offshore firm option, although I doubt it'll help. Most of them seem to want local lawyers, or US lawyers with Harvard cred AND at least 3-5 years of work ex. But I will still look into it.

Oh, I just thought of something: do local firms hire foreign counsel in an advisory position? I'm not that particular about being in court, so long as I'm dealing with substantive law..

I'm just starting to study seriously for the bar... signed up for bar/bri once again. The classes start 27th of this month. But really, do nudge me every now and then, I could use the pressure!

There's only that much I can do to nudge (=

Local firms seldom hire foreign counsel, and even so, it's usually one or two rather senior ones because those lawyers are expected to have enough experience to answer more than merely general questions - on the spot. Kind of like a "duty officer". Offshore firms in Singapore on the other hand, I'm not too sure. But like I mentioned before, you might want to check out the headhunting firms. Shall I place a call for you? Drop me an email with your contact particulars and brief CV?

Dude, I am so with you on con law. I hate it with a vengence (sp?) ... I was so happy to get done with Con law 2 this semester until I realized I still have to take Florida con law in 3L. :''(

Sales I like, it is very methodical ... and the math is fun. But con law .. man oh man!

You guys are required to take Con law 2 and FL con law?? Holy hell, that must suck..

I never took Sales in school, but it's the memorising of all the delivery requirements, the acceptance, rejection, revocation, et al that really gets to me.

Agreed on all counts (except about con law). Hang in there.

I certainly don't like all aspects of Con Law, but half my courseload in law school was Con Law related, so I guess so. That said, what makes Con Law interesting--big picture issues and policy questions--is completely absent from the bar exam, so I understand your pain.
